Vice President Kamala Harris has brushed off concerns that some people have over President Joe Biden's age, citing what the president has achieved since entering the White House in January 2021.

Biden, who will be turning 81 years old on Nov. 20, has faced numerous concerns from Democrats over his cognitive ability to serve as president, with some asking if seeking reelection in 2024 would be best for the party. However, Harris, in a new radio interview, has suggested that the president is more than capable of continuing his job.

"Actions speak louder than words, and when you look at what the president and I, what Joe Biden has been able to accomplish, you know many presidents over many years talked about, for example, what they were going to do to build back up America's infrastructure," Harris said. "It's under Joe Biden's leadership that we're getting that done."

The vice president cited Biden's work in lowering the cost of insulin as well as his financial support of almost $7 billion he has given to historically black colleges. Because of Biden's work, she encouraged his supporters and Democrats not to get "distracted" by those concerned about his age.

"Let’s look at whether we have a president who has actually produced and followed through on his commitments and especially on long-standing issues that needed to be addressed," Harris said. "Joe Biden has done that. That’s the measure of the man, not what’s on his birth certificate in terms of his age as for president, it's about has he actually produced in a way that has improved the lives of people."

A poll released in late September found that 72% of registered voters said Biden's age would be a factor in their voting decision. 40% of respondents said his age would "strongly impact" their vote, and roughly 19% said their vote would be "somewhat" affected by age.

A recent poll released Sunday has also raised concern among Democrats, in which former President Donald Trump is outpacing Biden in five major battleground states. Democratic strategist David Axelrod wrote on Sunday that Biden would need to decide if seeking reelection was in the "best interest" of either him or the United States.
