All eyes are on CNN host Kaitlan Collins as she prepares to moderate a town hall with former President Donald Trump a day after he was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation in a New York civil trial brought by E. Jean Carroll.
Afterward, according to a report, the host may find herself with a new, more lucrative contract at the television network.
Puck News reported that Chairman and CEO of CNN Chris Licht is preparing to move Collins to the coveted 9 p.m. prime-time spot. This spot was once held by Chris Cuomo, who brought in some of CNN's highest ratings.
Asked for confirmation, a spokesperson for CNN told the Washington Examiner, "We aren’t going to comment on speculation."
Since Cuomo's firing from the network over his involvement in helping his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, during his sexual harassment scandal, CNN has struggled to find a prime-time star.
But now, the report indicates that Licht has found that star in Collins.
The current co-host of CNN This Morning may be promoted as soon as next week, according to the report.
Collins differs from many reporters at CNN, as she was once a White House reporter at the Daily Caller, which is considered to be a conservative-leaning news source. The publication was founded by recently ousted Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
Her expected rise at the network comes as Licht attempts to reinvent CNN. Most recently, the network terminated one of its most polarizing hosts, Don Lemon.
This also comes as competitor Fox News faces a ratings decline in Carlson's previous slot and calls for a boycott due to his ejection.

Last week, CNN announced that Collins would host the town hall, which many expressed shock over. Some criticized the network for hosting the former president and 2024 candidate, while others questioned why Trump would agree to appear on a network he so heavily criticized.
The event is set for Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire.
