A federal judge allowed a law banning transgender healthcare to go into effect while it awaits a ruling from a federal appeals court, despite previously ruling against it.

U.S. District Judge David Hale ruled Friday to allow the ban, SB 150, after citing a ruling from another court regarding a similar law in Tennessee.

"The latest ruling from the District Court is a victory for the rule of law and for the protection of our children," Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron tweeted Friday. "I’ll continue to defend Senate Bill 150 and stand up for the right of children to be children, free from radical gender ideology."

This comes after the bill has had a turbulent history, first getting passed by the legislature earlier this year, only to be vetoed by Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY). Beshear's veto was ultimately overturned by the legislature.

"Hatred and division only make us weaker, but love, kindness, and acceptance bring us closer together and make us stronger," Beshear tweeted. "Let's do what's right and lead with love, Kentucky."

The U.S. 6th Circuit of Appeals will consider the Kentucky case and the Tennessee case together with the goal to issue a ruling by Sept. 30.

Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, and Indiana have seen their respective laws blocked by federal courts as well.
