NextImg:Joy Behar claims Joe Biden is not 'too old' because he's 'capable of sarcasm'

The View host Joy Behar went to President Joe Biden's defense, citing a joke he made to reporters on Wednesday as the reason he is not too old.

Thursday's segment of The View was dedicated to the latest on the elections for speaker of the House. Behar worked in a clip of Biden sarcastically telling reporters that "I ache for" Rep. Jim Jordan's (R-OH) failed attempts for speakership. After a pause, Biden clarified: "no, none, zero" view of the two unsuccessful elections.

JIM JORDAN WON'T HOLD THIRD BALLOT, WILL BACK TEMPORARY POWERS FOR MCHENRY

"Not only does the guy go right into a war zone, you know, he also is — he did something, some kind of a deal with Egypt so that they’re now sending help into Gaza — because of Joe Biden did that, yes, also they’re sending trucks and things to help, so he did that," Behar said. "This is our president. He also is capable of sarcasm. And you're gonna tell me he's too old? No."

Her fellow hosts and live TV audience broke out into laughter and applause. Later on the show, the hosts would all celebrate Jordan opting out of a third election and supporting Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) as the speaker pro tempore. Jordan would go on to say he supported McHenry in the role through Congress settling on a budget. All hosts expressed their distaste for Jordan, with Sunny Hostin going as far as to say she was "terrorized" by him during her testimony during a congressional hearing.

"Republicans will lose the House majority," Alyssa Farah Griffin predicted. "It is nonsensical what they are doing. They cannot get their act in order, and we’ll deserve it if we lose next cycle."

Jordan had the endorsement of Reps. Nancy Mace (R-SC), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Andy Biggs (R-AZ), who voted to oust McCarthy. However, Jordan hasn't earned the vote of all the eight Republicans who turned against McCarthy, namely Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), while still nabbing the endorsement of fellow Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO). Former President Donald Trump has also endorsed Jordan.

Thursday was the 16th day since Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was ousted as speaker.
