Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) is calling hypocrisy on the Biden administration's environmental agenda, slamming the president's climate envoy, John Kerry, and other bureaucrats' worldwide plane travel while encouraging net-zero carbon dioxide emissions.
On Thursday, Ernst revealed just how many trips have been made in the name of climate change in the Biden administration.

The Iowa Republican presented new figures from the Government Accountability Office, showing that in 2022, Kerry led 259 officials from 17 different agencies and offices on a trip to Egypt, where they notably touted net-zero emissions. He further traveled by plane earlier this year to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The special envoy also attended the G-7 Ministers’ Meeting on Climate, Energy, and Environment in April.
In 2021, Ernst revealed, 90 observers traveled to the U.N. Climate Conference, including 20 representatives, 18 senators, and 52 congressional staffers. She noted that in 2022, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was an observer at the event.
Ernst, along with Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), requested that the GAO also calculate the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by the administration's travel. However, the office claimed it does “not have a systematic way to calculate greenhouse gas emissions from U.S. delegation travel," despite Biden's commitment to the environment.
The Iowa senator is aiming to change that with a new bill titled the Executive Branch Emissions Transparency Act.
“The gas is always greener when you’re burning fossil fuels in the name of saving the planet,” Ernst said. “While giving lip service to greenies, Biden bureaucrats are blatantly emitting the greenhouse gases they demonize. The double standard is clear, and Americans have had enough of this hot air. It’s time for Biden bureaucrats to face the facts: according to their own actions, American-made fossil fuels are not the enemy. I am committed to exposing this hypocrisy.”
“In the Biden administration, the same people who are closing down power plants across the country and forcing Americans to buy electric vehicles are also the ones flying to climate conferences and using fossil fuels without apology. I’m proud to join Senator Ernst in continuing our push for accountability and stand up for those who are understandably frustrated by the hypocrisy we’ve seen time and time again," Moore Capito added.

Biden has been a fierce advocate of fighting climate change and limiting fossil fuel use. He has referred to the issue as both an "existential threat" and a "clear and present danger."
The administration has further stated goals of "achieving a carbon pollution-free power sector by 2035," as well as a "net zero emissions economy by no later than 2050."
