Actor Jon Hamm narrated a new advertisement, released on Monday, for Sen. Josh Hawley's (R-MO) Democratic 2024 opponent.

In an ad knocking Hawley's new book Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs, the Mad Men actor said "Manhood. You’d hope that means courage." The senator's book came out last week.

The ad was done in promotion of Hawley's opponent, Lucas Kunce. The politician brands himself as a "different kind of Democrat" and is a 13-year veteran of the Marines.

"Jon Hamm's got a message for Missouri: If you want to be told about 'Manhood,' Josh Hawley wrote a book about it. But if you want a Marine veteran fighting for you and everyday Missourians in the U.S. Senate, then join us: http://LucasKunce.com," Kunce tweeted alongside the video.

According to Hamm, "Courage isn’t something you can give speeches or write a book about. It’s not sitting on the sidelines while others sacrifice, or denying help to those who did. It isn’t putting people down or trying to control them or using your own power for profit or ambition.

"In Missouri," he said. "You can’t fake courage. We’re the Show-Me state. Courage is something you have to show us.

“If you want to be told about ‘Manhood,’ some guy wrote a book about it,” he said, referencing Hawley's book.

“But if you want someone to show you courage, send Lucas Kunce to the Senate," Hamm concluded.

The ad also notes that the actor was "born and raised in Missouri."

Hawley's office did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.

Despite Kunce's challenge, his Missouri Senate seat is rated as solidly red, according to the Cook Political Report.
