House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Vice President JD Vance were caught on a hot mic speaking ahead of President Donald Trump’s address to Congress, with Johnson contrasting Trump with former President Joe Biden.
Vance and Johnson stood behind Trump during Tuesday night’s speech in the House chamber, as is customary for the vice president and House speaker.

“By the way, I think the speech is going to be great … but I don’t know how you do this for 90 minutes,” Vance told Johnson ahead of the speech.
“The hardest thing was doing it during Biden, when the speech was a stupid campaign speech,” Johnson replied, tilting down the microphone capturing their conversation.
