Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) argued that President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard in Los Angeles to deal with “the wolf problem,” referring to the rioters protesting the Trump administration’s deportation efforts.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have opposed Trump’s handling of the city’s riots. Newsom has partnered with California Attorney General Rob Bonta to sue the Trump administration over its “unnecessary” National Guard deployment. Kennedy said the rioters are not “peaceful protesters,” but instead are “wolves” harming residents and destroying property, a problem that Newsom, “a sheep in sheep’s clothing,” has failed to address.

“He thinks cops are a bigger problem than criminals,” Kennedy said on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom. “So then you say, ‘Well, where’s the mayor of Los Angeles, maybe she can stop it?’ Well, she’s a sheep, too. More sheep are not going to stop the wolf problem. So the federal government sent in troops, and we’re stopping the wolf problem. Last night was a better night, and tonight will be better still. It’s not hard to figure out to me, and I think most Americans are looking at this and going, ‘Stop the wolves.’ And a lot of them are thinking, ‘Nobody’s talking about it, but who’s going to pay for all this? Who’s going to pay for all this destruction? Are we going to get the bill?’ That’s the way I see it.”

Kennedy also said the public can see the protesters “acting like wolves,” while “sheep” like Newsom and Bass are asking them to “please stop it.” However, Kennedy said that the rioters rejected this request, leaving the public with three options: calling Newsom, Bass, or “a Marine” for help. He added that they ultimately chose “door number three.”

Kennedy said Democrats who oppose Trump’s reaction to the riots are using “the same game plan we’ve seen forever” by pushing the narrative that the president is “a dictator” trying to overtake Los Angeles. The problem with this, Kennedy said, is that the general public can see the riots online, similar to how they could see former President Joe Biden “had a neurodegenerative disease.”

“I think they ought to get a new strategy here,” Kennedy suggested regarding Democrats. “But aside from the politics, Los Angeles is one of the greatest cities in the world. We shouldn’t stand by and let the wolves destroy it or devour it.”

NO, GAVIN NEWSOM, THE LA RIOTS ARE NOTHING LIKE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES CELEBRATIONS

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has defended the Trump administration’s deployment of 4,000 National Guard members and 700 Marines to Los Angeles and said Immigration and Customs Enforcement “has the right to safely conduct operations in any state and any jurisdiction.” The deployment will cost an estimated $134 million, according to Bryn Woollacott MacDonnell, acting Pentagon comptroller.

Newsom has encouraged the Trump administration to arrest him for opposing the deployment of the National Guard. However, border czar Tom Homan has stressed that such an arrest would only happen if Newsom breaks the law. However, Trump said he would arrest Newsom if he were in Homan’s position.
