While Fetterman didn't speak at the event, other lawmakers did take the stage and offered support for Israel. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) addressed the crowd. So did House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA).

Fetterman has surprised many by taking an outspoken stance in support of Israel following the beginning of hostilities in Gaza on Oct. 7. His stance contrasts that of many of his progressive allies in Congress. Despite withering support from his progressive supporters, Fetterman has responded by doubling down on his stance.

My office will display every last one of the innocent Israelis kidnapped by Hamas until they are safely returned home.

Fetterman has explicitly pushed against calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, saying that one should not be pursued until Hamas is destroyed.
Now is not the time to talk about a ceasefire. We must support Israel in efforts to eliminate the Hamas terrorists who slaughtered innocent men, women, and children.

Hamas does not want peace, they want to destroy Israel. We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized.
