Washington Examiner Senior Writer Joe Concha condemned former MSNBC analyst Matthew Dowd’s reaction to the shooting of Charlie Kirk.
“So look, the bottom line is when the Matthew Dowds of the world on MSNBC — who is a profoundly horrible human being — actually blaming Charlie Kirk after he is dead, the same way that Matthew Dowd blamed Donald Trump after his assassination attempts for, in Dowd’s mind, bring it on themselves, therefore they deserved it . . . This is utterly delusional,” Joe Concha said on Fox News’s Hannity on Wednesday.

Concha was referring to Dowd’s segment on MSNBC’s Katy Tur Reports earlier that day. Dowd’s analysis began before the news of Kirk’s death.
“He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups,” Dowd said of Kirk. “And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in.”
“You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in,” Dowd said.
MSNBC fired Dowd following his Wednesday television appearance.
“[Dowd] shouldn’t be back in television in general, that is a good first start. But there’s too much rhetoric right now that we’re seeing from the left that is leading to these situations,” Concha said. “Words have consequences.”
When backlash arose online following Dowd’s segment, he issued an apology on Bluesky.

“On an earlier appearance on MSNBC I was asked a question on the environment we are in. I apologize for my tone and words. Let me be clear, I in no way intended for my comments to blame Kirk for this horrendous attack,” Dowd wrote.
