Washington Examiner Senior Writer Joe Concha continued to recommend that CBS fire Late Show host Stephen Colbert immediately to “save money and save face.”

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is slated to have its final episode in May 2026. However, as Colbert has openly criticized his network’s parent company, Paramount, Concha suggested the network not wait that long to axe him.

“He has been bashing his bosses over and over again, accusing them of taking bribes,” Concha said of Colbert on Fox News’s Fox Report with Jon Scott Sunday.

Concha was referring to Paramount’s recent settlement with President Donald Trump for $16 million. Trump sued the network over edits made to a 60 Minutes interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris during her 2024 presidential campaign.

Following the settlement news in early July, Colbert lambasted his employer for bending the knee over a lawsuit that was “completely without merit.” Concha echoed Jay Leno in lamenting that late-night television audiences don’t want to “hear a lecture.”

“[The Late Show is] basically MSNBC meets The View at night, and that’s why he’s hemorrhaging viewers the way he is, all while losing the network tens of millions of dollars. I say, why keep him around now for 10 months where he’s going to continue to bash your network, when you can just cut bait, save money, and save face?” Concha said.
