Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha defended Sen. Tom Cotton‘s (R-AR) response during a tense interview with CBS’s Margaret Brennan, calling her “arguably the most terribly biased interviewer on broadcast news.”
Brennan previously attacked Cotton for his 2020 New York Times op-ed endorsing the use of force to end rioting after the death of George Floyd.

“We all hope that the local police are allowed to do their job and have sufficient numbers to do their job to maintain order and protect innocent life and property, but if they can’t or they’re not allowed to, the National Guard has to be on scene to restore civil order,” Cotton told Brennan on Sunday’s Face the Nation.
Concha mentioned the outbreak of violence against police officers in Los Angeles, including throwing cement on police cars from above, saying “rioters have tried to murder LAPD police officers.”
“Tom Cotton handled that perfectly, no emotion, completely confident, and the guy was spitting facts,” Concha said Monday on Fox and Friends First.
Concha went on to critique the media for their bias and perpetuation of specific storylines.
“The fact is we have so many in the media that continue to insist that riots are not happening when our eyes, our ears, see the video, the images coming out of places like Los Angeles,” Concha said, also mentioning atrocities witnessed in Portland, Oregon.
Concha also attacked CNN’s Brian Stelter for his own perpetuation of media biases, such as the one-sidedness of violence.
“I’m sorry, that guy should be fired from CNN, again,” Concha said.

Concha commended the public and lauded its ability not to be wrongly persuaded by false rhetoric in the media.
“They’re on the losing side of this, the media is, Democrats are, because the American people are not stupid, and they have these things called eyesight and hearing,” Concha said. “They know exactly what’s happening.”
