The Washington Examiner‘s Joe Concha said Democratic lawmakers are committing “political suicide” by welcoming pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil “with open arms.”

House and Senate Democrats met with Khalil during his recent visit to Capitol Hill. Earlier this year, Khalil’s green card was revoked over his participation in several anti-Israel protests, during which Hamas propaganda was distributed.

“Apparently, this is the hill the democrats are choosing to die on. It’s political suicide,” Concha said Thursday on Fox News’s Fox & Friends.

“But Khalil now … getting the red carpet treatment during his recent visit to Capitol Hill. We had Stephen Colbert favorite senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who I last checked is Jewish, along with Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, all welcoming him with open arms in Washington this week. While somehow claiming that Khalil is somehow a victim, despite him turning Columbia University into a profoundly uninhabitable place for Jewish students and pushing his pro-Hamas rhetoric,” Concha added.

In recent weeks, Khalil was released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention, and his green card was returned. Khalil is suing the Trump administration for his 104 days in detention. Concha lamented that Khalil avoided deportation.

TRUMP FORCES COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY TO GROW A SPINE

“This is a person who is a terrorist sympathizer, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio was 100% right — he has no business being in this country. He should have been deported,” Concha said. “But of course, we have judges that think otherwise. Columbia is now paying for protecting somebody like this, $200 million.”

Columbia is settling several civil rights investigations by paying the Trump administration $220 million, which will restore its lost federal funding of about $400 million.
