The funeral at Maranatha Baptist Church, which the Carters have attended for decades, was a smaller gathering made up mostly of family members and locals, in contrast to the Atlanta memorial, which included visiting dignitaries such as President Joe Biden and five first ladies.

Tony Lowden, Rosalynn Carter's personal pastor, gave a eulogy based on Proverbs 31:10-31, commonly known as the virtuous woman scripture.

"There's no place on this Earth that you can find anyone that has anything bad to say about Rosalynn Carter," Lowden said. "Not one word. Not a news article. Not even one person on the Left or anybody on the Right. ... She did not worship the donkey or the elephant. She worshiped the lamb."

"Who can find a virtuous wife?" Lowden continued. "Jimmy Carter. For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of a husband safely trusts her."
