House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) says that former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency John Brennan told the House committee the letter claiming the Hunter Biden laptop appeared to be Russian disinformation was "all political."
Jordan claimed Brennan admitted the political nature of the letter during an interview at the Capitol on Thursday.
"He sat for [a] four-hour interview, Jesse. He further confirmed that this thing was all political," Jordan said on Fox News Channel's Jesse Watters Primetime.
The Ohio Republican then took issue with Rep. Dan Goldman's (D-NY) dismissal of the matter, with the Democrat saying that Brennan was a private citizen when he signed the letter in October 2020.
"And they didn’t just sign on as Mike Morell, private citizen, exercising his First Amendment rights, John Brennan, private citizen, they signed on as former acting director of the CIA, former head [of] the CIA. They used their title. So, yeah, we expect public servants not to use their title to influence an election," Jordan said.
"And it was so political when it was all done, this talking point they wanted to give Joe Biden for that final debate with President Trump, it was so political after that debate’s over the campaign calls up Mr. Morell, thanks him for it, he gets an 'atta boy' from Steve, chairman of the Biden campaign. Just, it just further confirmed all that," he continued.
Jordan also alleged that, based on testimony, an employee at the CIA review board attempted to recruit individuals to sign the letter.
"A current employee of the CIA was actively soliciting people to sign on to this letter that was used in a total political fashion with all their names associated so Joe Biden would have a talking point in the debate," Jordan said. "Why do you need a talking point if the laptop’s not real, if it’s all fake and Russian information? Why would you need a talking point, and he presented it as if it was all organic. They just shazam, it happened out of the goodness of all of these individuals’ hearts they wanted to do this as if there was no political motivation whatsoever, and we know that was not accurate."
