Vice President JD Vance will make his first foreign trips since taking office to France and Germany next week.

These trips will take place about three weeks after Vance was sworn into office. President Donald Trump has yet to announce his first foreign trip.

Vance’s first stop will be the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit on Feb. 10 in Paris. This will be the third consecutive summit after previous meetings in South Korea and the United Kingdom. It is expected that representatives from as many as 100 countries will be in attendance.

“The stakes are sky-high: we must enable artificial intelligence to fulfil its initial promise of progress and empowerment in a context of shared trust that contains the risks inherent to technological development, while seizing every opportunity,” the summit’s website reads. “It is in this context that France and Europe are hosting this Summit, in line with our clear commitment to open and inclusive progress on artificial intelligence and to an approach focused on sovereignty and strategic independence when it comes to absolutely crucial technologies for our societies and economies.”

The vice president will then go to the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 14. The conference aims “to build trust and to contribute to the peaceful resolution of conflicts by sustaining a continuous, curated and informal dialogue within the international security community.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio made his first international trip last week, traveling to Panama to reinforce the United States’s support for the Panama Canal.
