Former FBI Director James Comey issued his first public statement since his daughter Maurene Comey was fired from the Department of Justice earlier this month.
Comey recorded a video statement on his Substack on Sunday. During his statement, he read from the letter Maurene, 36, wrote to her colleagues since her firing. In the letter, Maurene Comey claimed she was fired without reason but encouraged her former coworkers not to “fear.”

The video included Comey comparing the Justice Department to a reservoir. Comey explained that DOJ employees protect the reservoir by demonstrating a “complete commitment to truth and a recognition that what one person does can ruin what benefits everybody.”
“The reservoir is in grave danger right now. Trump and the hacks who lead the Department of Justice are hammering at the dam day after day, trying to turn it into just another gold-leaf-covered Trump subsidiary,” Comey said in the video.

His whole family is a criminal enterprise comprised of evil pathological liars.
Don’t believe anything he or they say.
He and they belong in jail.
They’re all traitors. pic.twitter.com/7Le3xvi8HP
“Our best hope is that good people will stay and do what Maureen asked, have the courage to do the right thing, always. You may get fired for acting that way, but there’s honor in that, and nothing but disgrace for those who don’t stand up.”
Comey started his Substack two months ago, where he’s made a habit of creating videos of himself in a suit and tie.
TRUMP ACCUSES COMEY, OBAMA, AND BIDEN OF MAKING UP EPSTEIN FILES
Maurene Comey was an assistant United States attorney in the Southern District of New York, working on the team that prosecuted late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Her father also served in the same district as the United States Attorney.
President Donald Trump has largely dismissed any further investigations into Epstein. Trump claimed James Comey made up the idea of there being more Epstein files.
