NextImg:James Comey, once loathed by Dems, media, now their next martyr

“No one is above the law.”

That was what Attorney General Pam Bondi said this week following the announcement that former FBI Director James Comey had been indicted for making a false statement to Congress and obstruction in a criminal case.

The sarcasm cannot be lost here considering that’s what Democrats, their allies in the media and Comey himself had declared following the various felony charges brought against President Donald Trump in recent years. Most of those cases, which were laughable from the start, have since been relegated to the dustbin of history. But the piousness from the triad above lives on.

RFK JR. MAKES AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN BY BLAMING MOTHERS

In theory, all Americans are innocent until proven guilty. The same applies to Comey. But the media has already made him their next martyr after turning Jimmy Kimmel into the Rosa Parks of late night, all while conveniently omitting the fact that almost everyone — left and right — despises Comey.

The left hates him for (rightly) opening up a case against Hillary Clinton days before the 2016 election. Hillary herself singled out Comey for being one of the biggest reasons she lost to Trump (besides, you know … not campaigning in key swing states like Wisconsin).

“By being vague and obfuscating, Comey opened the door to conspiracy theories. And there’s now a surge of fund-raising for Trump and his team,” Meet The Press host Chuck Todd said in October 2016.

“This is just the worst possible situation for the FBI, for the country, for Hillary Clinton,” lamented NBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

“Even I, as a lowly assistant U.S. Attorney in the 1990s, knew there was a bedrock principle at the Justice Department … you don’t interfere in elections,” then-CNN legal analyst Jeffery Toobin said of Comey. “Two months before, you go dark. You don’t start making public disclosures. You don’t issue subpoenas, you don’t issue indictments on the eve of election and I don’t see what possible justification James Comey had to violate that principle… Why throw that stink bomb at the very end of the campaign?”

Stink bomb.

And the right loathes him for not indicting Clinton in the summer of 2016 after literally accusing her of being “extremely careless” with the highly classified documents she had stored on a private server that, by almost all expert accounts, was likely accessed by the Chinese and Russians.

But since Comey is the ultimate anti-Trumper, having written two books about the current president while being portrayed as a sympathetic figure in a Showtime miniseries about his battles with Trump, legacy media is doing EXACTLY what one would expect following his indictment, with a few exceptions we’ll get to in a moment.

POLITICAL VIOLENCE ON THE RISE IN THE US: A TIMELINE OF KEY INCIDENTS

“COMEY INDICTED IN EXTRAORDINARY ESCALATION OF TRUMP REVENGE,” read a CNN banner following the indictment. Yep… the Cringe News Network actually went there in reflexively applying motive to the Trump DOJ decision.

Compare that with CNN’s headline after Trump fired Comey in May 2017:

“Firing James Comey is Donald Trump’s most unpredictable and dangerous move yet.”

You can’t make this up.

How about former Clinton pitbull-turned-totally-objective-anchor George Stephanopolus over on ABC?

October 2016 on Comey reopening an investigation into Hillary:

“A lot of Democrats are incensed by James Comey’s actions,” reported Stephanopolus. “Dianne Feinstein, senator Dianne Feinstein, called his actions ‘appalling.’ Howard Dean, former Democratic candidate for president, says, quote, ‘He may have destroyed the credibility of the FBI forever. Put himself on the same side as Putin.”

Stephanopoulos now:

“President Trump’s retribution campaign reached a new and ominous level late yesterday. The first criminal indictment of the man Trump considers a political enemy,” he began World News Tonight on Thursday.

How times have changed.

So is Comey guilty here? We’ll see how the evidence plays out.

FULL LIST OF EXECUTIVE ORDERS, ACTIONS, AND PROCLAMATIONS TRUMP HAS MADE AS PRESIDENT

Was information leaked to the press by Comey through a friend at Columbia University? Yes. He literally admitted to it during a hearing on Capitol Hill.

Did Comey’s deputy, Andrew McCabe, say that Comey had authorized him to leak to the press? Yes, according to a 2018 Inspector General report.

Should the media be presenting this evidence honestly and exploring it further without immediately blaming Trump for the very weaponization he endured under the previous administration?

Absolutely.

Unfortunately, TDS has spread like the plague through newsrooms across the country.

Therefore, Trump will be the focus here.

TRUMP BRINGS BOX OFFICE AND URGENCY TO UN

We’ll hear the usual descriptors: Authoritarian. Vengeful. Dangerous.

Fortunately for those seeking the truth, legacy media simply does not have the ability to sway public opinion remotely like it used to.
