Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pleaded guilty on Thursday to willfully setting off a fire alarm after he was captured on camera last month pulling the alarm in a congressional building amid the House voting on a critical government funding bill.
Bowman will pay a $1,000 fine after he was charged in Washington, D.C., Superior Court with "willfully and knowingly" giving a "false alarm of a fire," in violation of city code.

"I'm thankful for the quick resolution from the D.C. Attorney General's office on this issue and grateful that the United States Capitol Police General Counsel's office agreed I did not obstruct nor intend to instruct any House vote or proceedings," Bowman said in a statement.
He added, "I am responsible for activating a fire alarm, I will be paying the fine issued, and I look forward to these charges being ultimately dropped."
Earlier Thursday, Bowman surrendered to police and Fox News cameras caught the Squad Democrat turning himself in.
"I admitted that from the very beginning," Bowman said of pulling the alarm. "Gotta take responsibility for it. We have a deal in place, so looking forward to paying the fine, and three months later it being dismissed, and hopefully, continuing to do work in my district."
