Boxer Jake Paul did not hold back at a press conference in New York, comparing the Big Apple to boxer Mike Tyson by saying it was “good 20 years ago.”

The boxer made his comment while being booed at Fanatics Fest NYC, which he was attending to promote his match with Tyson. Paul, who endorsed former President Donald Trump in his 2024 bid for the White House, responded to the jeers by telling the audience to “boo yourselves.”

“Hey, New York!” Paul said. “New York, New York, you’re just like Mike Tyson: You were good 20 years ago! F*** you, New York! F*** you! Dumba** Democratic city!”

Paul has not shied away from delving into political waters since joining the world of boxing as he has filmed two TikTok videos with Trump last month, one of which teased “another knockout” victory by the former president. When he explained why he endorsed Trump, Paul stated that voters want a president who will represent them in “the best way possible” and that he believes Trump was “the right option.”

“We don’t want all the BS put in front of us. This is the smartest generation,” Paul said. “We’ve had the most access to information and knowledge out of any other generation, so you can’t fool us, so we just want the truth, and we want authenticity.”

Paul’s brother, WWE star Logan Paul, has also partnered with Trump on at least one occasion, conducting a one-on-one interview with Trump on the Impaulsive podcast in June. The two released a TikTok video ahead of the podcast episode to promote his appearance on it.

Tyson was also attending Fanatics Fest NYC, where he held a news conference previewing his fight with Jake Paul. Tyson could be spotted pushing him at one point, with Jake Paul sharing the footage online and writing “can’t move a brick wall” on social media.

The match between Jake Paul and Tyson, which Netflix is set to air live, was originally scheduled to be held on July 20, but it was delayed to Nov. 15 after Tyson underwent medical treatment for his ulcer diagnosis.
