Just before CNN This Morning co-host Don Lemon returned on-air Wednesday morning, he posted an online apology for his controversial comments about Nikki Haley that saw him benched and directed to undergo “formal training.”
Last Thursday, Lemon suggested Haley was past her prime after she announced her bid as a 2024 Republican presidential candidate.

While he has yet to apologize on-air formally, Lemon tweeted before the show that he was “sorry” and “committed to doing better.”
I appreciate the opportunity to be back on @CNNThisMorning today. To my network, my colleagues and our incredible audience — I’m sorry. I’ve heard you, I’m learning from you, and I’m committed to doing better.

See you soon.
“I appreciate the opportunity to be back on CNN This Morning today,” Lemon posted. “To my network, my colleagues and our incredible audience — I’m sorry. I’ve heard you, I’m learning from you, and I’m committed to doing better. See you soon.”
CNN CEO Chris Licht announced that Lemon agreed to participate in “formal training” in a Monday night memo to the cable network’s staff.

“I sat down with Don and had a frank and meaningful conversation,” Licht said. “He has agreed to participate in formal training, as well as continuing to listen and learn.”
“We take this situation very seriously,” Licht added. “It is important to me that CNN balances accountability with fostering a culture in which people can own, learn and grow from their mistakes. To that end, Don will return to CNN This Morning on Wednesday.”
