NextImg:Israeli actress Gal Gadot plans screening of IDF footage of Hamas attack

Israeli actress Gal Gadot is planning to host a screening of Israel's conflict with Hamas, with the footage provided by the Israel Defense Forces.

The screening will showcase 47 minutes of the attack Hamas made on Oct. 7 to a curated audience, with the showcase spearheaded by Academy Award-winning director Guy Nattiv, according to a report. Gadot hosting the screening is notable because, beyond being a famous Israeli actress, she is also an IDF veteran.

"As a filmmaker, I swore that these images of October 7 would not be forgotten, and the world would see them," Nattiv said. "Because now the denial begins — it is a fake, it is not a fake."

Nattiv thanked Gadot and her husband, Yaron Varsano, for helping to make the screening "possible."

The plan is to show one screening, which will feature a variety of celebrities and other notable people, for 120 spectators. It is possible that additional screenings will be hosted, but only if enough interest is present.

Details regarding when the screening will be held, as well as who will attend the screening, are not yet available.

Prior to landing major roles in Hollywood, including the lead role in 2017's Wonder Woman, Gadot served for two years in the IDF, which included time during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war. Israel requires most of its men and women to serve in its military once they turn 18 years old, with men required to serve 32 months and women required to serve 24 months.

Gadot has been very vocal in her support for Israel on social media, stating that she stood with the country in the wake of Hamas's attack on Oct. 7. Since then, she has posted numerous videos of kidnapped hostages of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Gadot is not the only Israeli celebrity to use her platform to speak out against Hamas. Former Miss Israel Yityish "Titi" Aynaw has used her social media for similar purposes, saying that promoting Hamas also promotes "the destruction of your child's future." Aynaw has also stated that "Hamas is ISIS," the terrorist group that became known in the 2010s for recording and publishing videos of its forces executing civilians.
