The United States Capitol Police is preparing for a planned protest outside of the Capitol on Wednesday by placing bike racks and extra officers outside of the complex.

Members of Congress have been instructed to use underground tunnels in order to access the building and to remain indoors as much as possible. The order was given by the House and Senate sergeants-at-arms, USCP confirmed to the Washington Examiner.

BIDEN SHIFTS FOCUS AWAY FROM DOMESTIC AFFAIRS AS ISRAEL WAR INTENSIFIES

"Last night [Capitol] Police put up bike racks [because] of expected Pro Palestinian protest today and Intel that members of congress will be targeted," Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday. "They told us to stay inside and only use the underground tunnels. Biden admin wants to go to war. I’m for peace!"

The protest will be over the Israel-Hamas war, which began Oct. 7 after the terrorist organization Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel during one of its holy days. More than 4,000 people have been killed in the conflict, with a couple hundred more dying in the bombing of a Gaza hospital on Tuesday, though the death toll in the incident is not clear.

Washington, D.C., has seen multiple protests since the war broke out, including a protest in front of the White House on Monday that resulted in the arrests of more than 30 protesters. Secret Service agents claimed the arrests were due to the protesters crossing safety barriers or blocking entrances near the White House. The protesters were calling for a ceasefire.

Other protests have broken out around the country in the past two weeks, including major protests and marches in Seattle, Washington; Lansing, Michigan; and Austin, Texas.

The protest comes as the House attempts to elect a new House speaker.
