Israel launched another strike on Hamas leaders on Tuesday but has reportedly caught civilians in the crossfire, though Israeli officials dispute the casualties.
The Israel Defense Forces struck senior terrorists in a Hamas command center “disguised in the humanitarian area in Khan Yunis,” an IDF spokesman posted on X. Samer Esmail Hader Abu-Daqa, the head of Hamas’s air force in the Gaza Strip, was attacked. The Hamas militants targeted were reportedly directly involved in the planning of the Oct. 7 massacre that claimed over 1,200 Israeli lives.
Palestinian officials said the attack killed at least 19 people with 60 civilians wounded in Muwasi, a crowded tent camp used as a humanitarian zone for those fleeing from the war. An IDF spokesperson disputed the statistics.

“The numbers published by the Gaza Ministry of Information of the terrorist organization Hamas, which has been caught lying several times, do not coincide with the information available in the IDF,” including “the exact weapons used and the accuracy of the hit.”
There are several large craters around the wreckage, according to the Associated Press and pictures from the scene.
The IDF continues to accuse Hamas of using civilians as “human shields” in their fight. Gaza’s health ministry said over 40,900 Palestinians have been killed since the war began.
The IDF said it verified the presence of terrorists in the area with aerial observations.

The attacks come as President Joe Biden’s administration tries to broker a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. Its attempts have failed as both sides have stalled on efforts, particularly since Hamas murdered six terrorists, including one American, in Rafah just before the IDF was able to rescue them.
The war is entering its 11th month as the first anniversary of the Oct. 7 attacks approaches.
