Remember when politicians threw a fit about Dearborn, Michigan, being called “America’s Jihad Capital”? Perhaps activists leading a “Death to America” chant prove that outrage was unfounded.

Dearborn is an Arab American majority suburb in Detroit, so when a Wall Street Journal opinion piece labeled it as “America’s Jihad Capital,” Democratic politicians tripped over themselves to accuse the paper of bigotry and “Islamophobia.” That includes both senators from Michigan, Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Gary Peters (D-MI), along with Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), with Jayapal even demanding the outlet issue an apology.

Along with them, President Joe Biden chimed in, saying the piece could lead to “anti-Arab hate.” Dearborn’s mayor, who said that Israel killing terrorists was “tyrants murdering our families,” called the piece “bigoted” and “Islamophobic.”

All the piece did, though, was highlight several events in Dearborn of residents and activists celebrating the Oct. 7 massacre of 1,200 civilians in the immediate aftermath of those terrorist attacks. That was reiterated on Friday, which was “International Quds Day,” an occasion created by the Iranian regime to express hatred for Israel. Dearborn activist Tarek Bazzi gave a speech where he said that “the chant ‘Death to Israel’ has become the most logical chant shouted across the world today.”

He also said that people should “pour all of your chants and all of your shouts upon the head of America.” According to the video, one member of the audience began leading a “Death to America” chant, the logical follow-up to Bazzi’s comments. Perhaps a little less of that sanctimonious lecturing about “Islamophobia” and a little more concern about just how many activists in Dearborn celebrate terrorism and chant “Death to America” is in order now.

This glaring problem has been on display since Oct. 7. Biden and the Democratic Party are pandering to antisemitic, terrorist-sympathizing voters in Michigan based on the assumption (correctly or not) that those voters are needed to win the state. This is why Biden has been far harder on Israel for attacking terrorists than he has been on the terrorists, for whom he is building a pier to deliver aid.

It is not “Islamophobic” to notice this or that Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who represents Dearborn, is also antisemitic. It wasn’t the Wall Street Journal or any conservative who made activists in Dearborn celebrate terrorist attacks or call for “Death to America.” They made that decision on their own, and the Democratic Party has made the decision to pander to them both in rhetoric and, as Biden has shown, in policy toward both Israel and Hamas.
