Former Vice President Mike Pence slammed Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Thursday morning following the progressive lawmaker's announcement of her intention to boycott remarks by Israeli President Isaac Herzog during a joint meeting of Congress next week.

On Wednesday evening, Omar said there is "no way in hell" she would attend the address.

"@IlhanMN, Israel is one of our greatest and most important allies. Your defense of terrorists and attacks on the Jewish state are sickening. There is no place for antisemitism in our society," Pence tweeted. "I will never apologize for standing with Israel. Stand with me."

The tweet links to a WinRed fundraising page for Pence's 2024 presidential campaign. The page prompts individuals to donate because "We cannot allow Democrats to continue to abandon our most important ally and the only democracy in the Middle East."

It further notes that "Antisemitism has taken over the radical Left."

In her justification, Omar cited Israel's barring of herself and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) from entering the country. The country's decision was reportedly due to pressure from former President Donald Trump, who called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to allow the progressive congresswomen entry.

She also labeled Herzog's government as "the most right wing government in Israel’s history" and cited violence against Palestinians, claiming it to be "the deadliest year for Palestinians in the West Bank in history."

The congresswoman was immediately attacked as antisemitic for the move, particularly because of her support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement that seeks to undermine the state of Israel's right to exist.

However, Omar pointed to the fact that "Last month, I opposed the invitation for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address a joint session based on his government’s human rights record."

This comes days before the Christians United for Israel Summit, taking place between July 16-18. Herzog's address will be on July 19.
