Former Washington Commanders Carson Wentz was blasted on Friday for sharing a photo of himself posing next to a dead black bear during his hunting trip in Alaska.
"Got the opportunity to spot and stalk black bear in one of our new favorite places on earth— Alaska! Incredible trip and an incredible animal!" Wentz wrote on Instagram.
The NFL free agent quarterback was met with backlash for posting the photo.
"This is incredibly gross. Hunting is such an outdated and ridiculous “sport.” I guess because you couldn’t hack it at a real sport, you have to resort to a sport in which your opponent doesn’t have a weapon but you do. Lol. Pathetic behavior," one social media user commented on his Instagram.

Another user wrote, "This is plain horrific why would you want to do this?! This is not a sport this is murder."
The photo was also posted to the Wentz Bros Outdoors Instagram account that he shares with his brother Zach and links to their Youtube page showcasing episodes of their outdoor adventures. The brothers describe themselves as "outdoor enthusiasts."
The 30-year-old backup quarterback was released by the Commanders in February and was a 2018 Super Bowl (LII) champion with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Critics took shots at the 30-year-old for his hunting hobby and tried to attack his career and football injuries.
"Currently, that bear in his photos could be the perfect metaphor for his football career," NBC Sports writer Mike Florio wrote on Saturday.
