


Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) will speak on the impacts of Hurricane Idalia, which made landfall in Big Bend area on the Gulf Coast, bringing a storm surge that caused power outages for hundreds of thousands of Floridians.

Hurricane Idalia touched down as a Category 3 storm Wednesday morning, with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph and bringing life-threatening conditions to residents. The National Weather Service has placed over two dozen Florida counties on tornado watch, with multiple issued warnings as powerful winds and flooding are imminent. The storm has been downgraded to a Category 1 as of Wednesday afternoon.
