NextImg:Hunter pardon cements Joe Biden’s record of shame and failure - Washington Examiner

President Joe Biden’s expansive pardon of his son Hunter Biden, not just for the tax and gun crimes he has been found guilty of but for all possible criminal conduct going back 11 years, confirms that Biden was never the honest defender of law and order the Democratic Party sold him as but was always an opportunistic fraud who will leave office in defeated disgrace.

Biden was sold, first to Democratic primary voters and then to the general electorate, as the antithesis of then-President Donald Trump: a “no malarkey” truth-teller who would put principle over politics, unlike Trump, who Democrats said was only trying to enrich himself and his family at the expense of the nation.

That Biden and his family benefited financially from his time as vice president was a key matter in the 2020 election, so much so that when Trump brought up Hunter Biden’s business dealings with foreign entities, including China, Joe Biden was ready with a manufactured letter from deep state operatives claiming the allegations were nothing but Russian disinformation. The compliant media allies of the Democratic Party took this defense without further questioning, and their Big Tech allies silenced the story on their platforms.

It was not until House Republicans began investigating the Biden family that the truth started to come out. Congressional investigators have published ample evidence showing that Biden family members received at least $10 million from foreign entities funneled through more than a dozen shell corporations, all without a single member of Biden’s family registering as a foreign agent.

House Republicans produced emails, recordings, contemporary notes, and firsthand witness testimony showing that Hunter Biden repeatedly founded business deals with foreign entities on the belief that he could influence the behavior of his father, who was vice president at the time.

It was these same investigators who blew the whistle on the Department of Justice’s plea deal with Hunter Biden, noting that its unprecedented language covered not just the gun charges in question but other past possible illegal behavior as well.

What Biden’s DOJ tried unsuccessfully to sneak past a federal judge last year, Biden has now significantly expanded. The pardon issued Sunday evening is one of the most expansive in U.S. history, stretching back more than a decade and covering any possible federal wrongdoing committed by Hunter Biden in any context. It is far more broad than the pardon issued to former President Richard Nixon for his Watergate criminality.

The political cynicism of the Biden family crime cover-up is shameful. It now appears that the president had been planning to pardon Hunter Biden since at least early this year, reportedly informing top aides of his intention to do so, all while his spokesperson insisted on at least 10 occasions that Joe Biden had no such intention. The plan all along was to lie to voters long enough to get past the election before offering Hunter Biden the legal protection other Americans don’t get.

It is likely that the Hunter pardon will not be the last. If Hunter Biden broke federal laws spanning from his father’s days as vice president up through today, it is most likely that other members of his family did so as well, particularly his brother Jim, who has also become wealthy trading off the Biden family name.

Biden leaves office not only as a failed president who allowed inflation to eat up paychecks and created chaos on the southern border but also as a physically diminished man of limited mental capacity and now deeply morally compromised as well.
