The House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing on the handling of the investigation of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, and will hear from two IRS whistleblowers who allege misconduct in the Justice Department inquiry.
The hearing is expected to produce testimony alleging misconduct in the DOJ investigation of the younger Biden, who agreed to a plea deal last month that several Republicans criticized as a "sweetheart deal." Here are three things to expect from the hearing and its aftermath.

Whistleblower X's identity is revealed
Gary Shapley, one of the IRS whistleblowers, has made the rounds detailing his allegations about the Hunter Biden investigation for more than a month, but a second whistleblower, using the alias "Whistleblower X," will be identified for the first time on Wednesday.
Whistleblower X is an IRS agent who testified, alongside Shapley, to the House Ways and Means Committee in May.
Republicans will praise the whistleblowers, and Democrats will critique them
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) is expected to commend the whistleblowers as "brave and credible" and discuss how their testimony about intelligence agencies, including the DOJ, FBI, and IRS, "confirms" the committee's findings of misconduct in the investigations into Hunter Biden.
Comer is also expected to discuss the committee's investigation and how fast it unraveled "the Biden family's influence-peddling schemes."
House Oversight Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) is expected to have a more critical tone toward the whistleblowers, attempting to discredit the two witnesses as having "disagreements and frustrations with their supervisors." He is also expected to note that U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who was in charge of the investigation, was appointed by President Donald Trump.
How the White House will respond
The White House has tried to stay out of commenting on the president's son and investigations into him. Joe Biden, via the White House, has supported his son numerous times as questions swirl around Hunter Biden and investigations into him.
The closest thing to a White House response to allegations made by the whistleblowers in the hearing may be from the Justice Department or Weiss, who handled the DOJ investigation into Hunter Biden. Weiss and the DOJ have defended their conduct and investigation various times since questions into the handling of the investigation mounted.

The hearing comes almost a month after it was announced he would enter a plea deal related to two charges regarding failure to pay federal income tax.
The investigation into Hunter Biden by Weiss, which produced those charges, has come under increased scrutiny after the IRS whistleblowers came forward to allege that Weiss was blocked from bringing various other charges against the president's son.
