Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s former business partner, said in his first interview since testifying before Congress that then-Vice President Joe Biden knew he was meeting with his son’s business partners at multiple dinners and meetings, and that the speakerphone calls between the father and his son’s business partners were valuable to their foreign business.
“In the rearview, it’s an abuse of soft power,” Archer told Tucker Carlson in an interview.
THE MIXED MESSAGES OF BIDENOMICS
Archer’s public statements on Wednesday matched a summary of his testimony released by House Oversight Committee Republicans, including his claim that Joe Biden joined foreign business meetings on speakerphone roughly 20 times over the course of a decade.
“To be completely clear on the calls, I don’t know if it was an orchestrated call-in or not, it certainly was powerful though,” Archer said. “Because, you know, if you’re sitting with a foreign businessperson and you hear the vice president’s voice, that’s probably prize enough. That’s pretty impactful.”
During the interview, Carlson revealed a letter then-Vice President Joe Biden had written to Archer in 2011, personally thanking Archer for the work he was doing with Hunter Biden and apologizing for missing a luncheon because he was, at the time, meeting with the president of China.
“I think he was excited about the prospects for Hunter,” Archer said of the letter.
Archer, who faces a year in prison for a conviction on an unrelated fraud case, said he believes he and Hunter Biden got “a little too close to the Sun” by signing with some of the foreign companies they took on as lobbying clients while Hunter Biden’s father was in office.
Hunter Biden and Archer both served on the board of a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, and worked on a number of other foreign deals before Archer’s arrest in 2016.
Democrats have defended President Joe Biden against Archer’s allegations by noting that Joe Biden may not have known he was speaking to his son in the presence of business partners when he dialed Hunter Biden on those 20 occasions.
But Archer told Carlson that Joe Biden did sometimes know he was meeting with business associates, contradicting Joe Biden’s previous denials and current Democratic messaging.

“I can definitively say, at particular dinners and meetings, he knew there were business associates,” Archer said.
Archer spoke behind closed doors on Monday to the House Oversight Committee.
