The Department of Justice alleged that Biden willfully failed to pay four years' worth of taxes, instead spending money on everything from prostitutes to strip clubs.
Biden's indictment detailed many of his alleged creative avoidance schemes, such as claiming his $1,500 payment to an exotic dancer at a strip club was for "art work."

Biden's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, defended his alleged transgressions as a product of his drug addiction at the time, saying the tax fraud cited in the indictment occurred "at the depths of his addiction" and that it was "not behavior that he's proud of, but it doesn't make him into a tax felon."
Lowell has also said that Biden was the target of political persecution and would have been given a far lighter sentence if his dad wasn't president.
