Washington Examiner Editor-in-Chief Hugo Gurdon suggested recent allegations that Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) authorized leaks about the 2017 investigation into President Donald Trump “absolutely fits” Schiff’s reputation.
“Adam Schiff is, I think, one of the slipperiest, most unpleasant politicians on Capitol Hill,” Gurdon said. “I think that the story — the information that he was approving, leaks, absolutely fits with the way that he was very publicly behaving back in 2017.”

Gurdon appeared on Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt Tonight on Wednesday to suggest that Schiff’s role in the investigation has seemingly benefited him ever since.
According to recently released documents, a Democratic staffer on the House Intelligence Committee reported Schiff to the FBI in 2017. This whistleblower alleged that Schiff was engaging in “treasonous” and “illegal” behavior by authorizing leaks to hurt the public perception of Trump’s 2016 election win.
Schiff’s leaks were an attempt to suggest Russia was meddling in the election. However, the intelligence community’s assessment at the time found that Russia was not specifically backing the then Republican nominee.
Schiff denies the allegations and said the whistleblower is a “disgruntled former staffer” who was fired with cause.
But Gurdon said, “Now he’s accused of authorizing these leaks. It’s perfectly clear that he was an architect of this massive hoax, and he did this to help his political position, and obviously it did that.”
At the time, Schiff was a member of the House, but now he is in the Senate.
DEMOCRATS — THE LAST WORD IN POLITICS AND HYPOCRISY
The Washington Examiner reached out to Schiff’s office for comment.
Amid the release of these documents, President Donald Trump has called for Schiff to be prosecuted, which Gurdon said is “highly unlikely.”
Schiff is also facing mortgage fraud allegations due to allegedly listing multiple homes as his primary residence.
