Huckabee says Biden's 2024 Democratic dud: 'Like a pack of bottle rockets soaked in water all night'

Former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee compared President Joe Biden to a “pack of bottle rockets soaked in water all night.”
Huckabee made the comparison while appearing on Hannity and discussing the likelihood that Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) will be the 2024 Democratic nominee — despite his present choosing not to challenge Biden.

“Truthfully, [Newsom] deep down knows that Joe Biden is like a pack of bottle rockets that have been soaked in water all night. They’re never going to ignite,” Huckabee said. “He has to know that the worst thing for the Democratic Party is for Joe Biden to be the nominee.”
Huckabee gave Newsom credit for recently sitting down for an interview with Sean Hannity, saying many Democrats won't do that.
Hannity and his guests, including Huckabee, conservative commentator Charlie Hurt, and Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), recalled that Newsom denied he would run against Biden while refusing to answer questions about how often he is asked by Democrats to challenge the president.
Huckabee said he believes Biden will be challenged by a big Democratic name, such as Newsom, or be asked to “step aside.”
“Joe Biden won’t be the nominee, one way or another,” Huckabee said. “He’ll either be defeated, or somebody will convince him it’s time to step aside, go to Delaware, drive the Corvette, and go through all those boxes of classified materials that he kept.”

Hurt and Jackson concurred. Jackson said he, too, believed Newsom was likely to be the next Democratic nominee for president, while Hurt cautioned that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. should not be forgotten.
“I could see Democrats going with [Newsom] as the consensus, but the real barbarian at the gate would be RFK Jr. I would love to see what he would do to his party,” Hurt said.
