NextImg:How many immigrants is Pope Francis admitting in Vatican City? - Washington Examiner

Last Friday, Pope Francis decided to comment on the state of political affairs in the United States. Queried on what he would suggest to Catholic voters given that Vice President Kamala Harris is in favor of exterminating the lives of children in the womb and former President Donald Trump “would have 11 million migrants deported,” the pope lamented the choices.

“They are both against life — the one who throws away migrants and the one who kills children,” he replied.

It was an interesting choice of words by the pope that should raise both flags and eyebrows. After all, he is criticizing Trump for wanting to deport illegal immigrants in the country by categorizing it as “throwing away migrants.” Such words are rich coming from the pope. As much as he appears empathetic about the plight of the migrant, his actions are quite different from his words on the topic. After all, how many migrants is Pope Francis taking in this year? Furthermore, how many migrants does Vatican City allow to live in its city-state?

The answer to both questions, however, is the same: zero.

Pope Francis’s rhetoric mimicked those of people on the Left regarding immigration: Regularly talking about accepting immigrants but making sure those immigrants live somewhere else and not near him. Granted, living in the Vatican City is quite restrictive as the population is less than 800. Nevertheless, Pope Francis is the leader of the Catholic Church and is considered St. Peter’s successor. Don’t tell me he couldn’t authorize Vatican City to take in poor, suffering immigrants. It seems like a deliberate choice and one that is quite hypocritical.

Moreover, the pope’s statement warrants scrutiny. Trump doesn’t want to throw away migrants — he never did. He’s just against illegal immigration, as any sane person would be. Again, Trump only mentioned deporting those here illegally.

Furthermore, the most egregious part of the Pope’s comments would be equating children killed in the womb with immigrants breaking laws to enter another country. Children in the womb are completely innocent. People entering a country illegally are choosing to disobey laws. Laws, mind you, that Pope Francis has in his city-state. Suffice it to say, any person who wanted to enter and reside illegally in Vatican City would be met with swift justice from the Swiss Guard.

As a man of the cloth, Pope Francis should know the truth about Trump’s immigration policies by reading the facts online or through divine intervention. And, if he has a problem with Trump’s stance on deporting millions of illegal immigrants, as mentioned above, why isn’t Pope Francis taking any immigrants in his city-state?

The Pope has plenty of power, prestige, and authority to remedy his perceived ills regarding others’ actions on immigration. He talks a great deal but does little, if anything, to help solve the problem.
