Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) has endorsed Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for president and is encouraging him to get into the race.

Good is the fourth House Republican to endorse DeSantis despite the Florida governor having not yet declared his candidacy. The endorsement came through Never Back Down, a pro-DeSantis super PAC acting as a campaign in waiting until DeSantis announces his White House bid.

“Governor Ron DeSantis has shown through action as Florida’s chief executive that confronting hard challenges delivers effective results for every man, woman, and child,” Good said in a statement. “That strength in the face of adversity is needed more today than ever before, and it is why I am unequivocally endorsing and encouraging Gov. DeSantis to run for president.”

DeSantis has been endorsed by Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Chip Roy (R-TX), and Laurel Lee (R-FL). Former President Donald Trump has picked up over 50 endorsements from House Republicans, including seven Florida Republicans in the House, compared to DeSantis’s one.

A poll released Tuesday by Morning Consult showed DeSantis trailing Trump by more than 40 points. DeSantis led his next closest competitors by 14 points.

While he trails in the polls and endorsements, DeSantis took a major step toward announcing his presidential bid on Tuesday when he severed ties with his state political committee with millions of dollars in the bank. This step was necessary because for the money to be shifted to a federal super PAC supporting his presidential campaign, he couldn’t be involved with it.
