House Majority PAC, a political action committee aimed at getting Democrats elected to the lower chamber, announced on Wednesday it is ramping up spending in New York in the wake of Republicans making significant gains in the Empire State.
The super PAC is slated to spend $45 million on its New York Fund program for this cycle as the party looks to take back control of the House.

While House Republicans fell short of their anticipated red wave in November on a national level, the party managed to flip four seats in the state. And New York is expected to be a key component in Democrats' strategy to take back control of the House, with the party needing to flip just five seats during the next election.
The funds are expected to be used for television ads, billboards, direct mail, voter registration, digital communications and messaging development and research.
“The goal is to define freshmen Republican Members before they can define themselves, and that starts with battlefield polling and focus groups to determine Democrats’ most The PAC stated that due to the state generally not being a battleground at the top of the ticket, it feels it needs additional investment to drive voter turnout,” House Majority PAC said in its announcement.
The spending marks a significant uptick from the previous cycle, with House Majority PAC having been outspent by the GOP’s Congressional Leadership Fund by roughly $8 million, with Republicans dumping around $21 million into the battleground seats.
Multiple Democrats have expressed frustrations with the GOP’s pickups in the state last year, particularly with embattled Rep. George Santos (R-NY) defeated Democrat Robert Zimmerman by roughly 8 points in the D+3 district.

The move is likely to spark heaving spending on behalf of the GOP in response after New York played a leading role in delivering them their narrow majority.
