A family of five was displaced on Easter Sunday night after a three-story, single-family home caught on fire near Potomac, Maryland. The fire reportedly resulted in $2 million in damage, including $1.5 million in structural damage and $500,000 in contents.

An estimated 75 firefighters were on scene at the 8500 block of Country Club Drive in Cabin John, Maryland, just before 10 p.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service Chief Spokesman Pete Piringer tweeted late Sunday evening.

The fire erupted near the floor of the attic in close proximity to the HVAC unit, according to Piringer, and "likely involved electrical cables." A passerby called to report the fire, and it was cleared by approximately 10:30 p.m., Piringer said.

The family of two adults and three children was not at home when the fire occurred. There were no injuries, according to Piringer.

On Monday, firefighters will be hosting an “After-the-Fire” campaign at Country Club Drive to discuss fire safety and offer to check smoke alarms.
