Former Secretary of State and 2016 presidential loser Hillary Clinton has another in a long line of excuses for her embarrassing defeat at the very large hands of former President Donald Trump. After blaming Russia, sexism, campaign finance laws, the Democratic National Committee, former President Barack Obama, uninformed voters, Jill Stein, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), James Comey , self-hating women, voter suppression, and her own campaign staff, the former Democratic standard-bearer has a new scapegoat: unregulated media .

Unwilling to look in a mirror even after nearly seven years, Clinton blamed the right to speak freely online for her electoral struggles at an event hosted by Columbia University.

"When you have a media company that is like Facebook and like other platforms who do not care what lies they traffic in as long as they get ad money, you have consequences," Clinton said before giving some advice to other countries. "Don't go where we went, which was to largely unregulated media with no fairness doctrine, no accountability for lies — unless, of course, these lawsuits against Fox are successful."

Clinton, one of the most notorious liars in modern American politics, said that she is also concerned about the lack of trust in the political system.

"We are going to be in a constant state of uncertainty and instability because other people have captured so much information about us. And then the final thing is impact on politics and governance," Clinton added. "Democracy requires at least a minimal level of trust."

Reasonable political observers may note that perhaps no one has benefited from misleading the public more than the Clintons: from her husband partaking in the same type of hush money payments that have resulted in felony charges being brought against Trump, to orchestrating a 1970s-style red scare Russian collusion narrative that whipped the Democratic base into a fact-free frenzy for the better part of the last decade.

Blaming the free press for electoral struggles is a Democratic Party staple. President Joe Biden becomes visibly angry when asked a question from a free-thinking journalist. The 46th president called Fox’s Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a b****” when the journalist dared to ask the most powerful man on the planet about the record levels of inflation that are currently decimating the middle class.

Democrats often malign media outlets such as Fox News, the Blaze, and the Washington Examiner without the self-awareness to note that the Left controls the overwhelming majority of political content both within legacy media and online. For every Fox News, there is a CBS, NBC, and CNN. For every Washington Examiner, there is a New York Times and a Washington Post.

If Democrats can’t handle the occasional hit piece or a legitimate journalist asking a tough question, what does that say about their ideas and how well they align with the values of everyday people?
