NextImg:Hern says Democrats are 'going crazy' that Musk is finding waste

Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) said his Democratic colleagues in the House want to eliminate waste but don’t want Elon Musk to get the credit.

Nearly a month has passed since Musk began his volunteer position with the Department of Government Efficiency to create “a lean team of small-government crusaders” who work closely with the White House Office of Management and Budget. Musk’s involvement is considered a special government position under the authority of President Donald Trump, but he is often credited with the findings by DOGE. Hern, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, appeared on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo on Tuesday.

“We had a hearing last week. Every member of the Democratic Party talked about how they cared about waste, fraud, and abuse. They were just going crazy that it was Elon Musk finding it,” Hern said. “So, again, every American is tired of this. This is why President Trump won with a mandate, the electoral vote, and the popular vote.”

Musk is accomplishing the work that members of Congress never could, according to Hern.

“You can’t do oversight by Congress because these agencies block people coming to testify and similarly wait you out,” Hern explained.

“Great interview with congressman Kevin Hern of Oklahoma, this morning on Fox,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday. “Way to go, Kevin!!!”

DOGE has discovered thousands of Social Security payments sent to citizens over 150 years old, as well as an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the DeWitt Stetten Jr. Museum of Medical Research that would have cost $168,000, among other things.

However, legal challenges have obstructed DOGE’s efforts. While a lawsuit attempting to keep DOGE out of the data from the Labor Department was dismissed, another U.S. district judge ruled against the department accessing the U.S. Treasury.
