Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger died Wednesday at the age of 100, leading to condemnations and celebrations from many left-leaning figures and outlets.

While heads of state and leading United States political figures sent their condolences over the news, lower-level left-wing people or outlets either took the opportunity to condemn Kissinger or celebrate the news of his death.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT CHINA'S NEW SPIKE IN RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES AND 'IMMUNITY DEBT'

Rolling Stone wrote an obituary of the diplomatic giant titled "Henry Kissinger, War Criminal Beloved by America's Ruling Class, Finally Dies."

"The infamy of Nixon's foreign-policy architect sits, eternally, beside that of history's worst mass murderers. A deeper shame attaches to the country that celebrates him," the subheading read.

The far-left Jacobin magazine was more overt, having written a book-long obituary titled "Only the Good Die Young" years in advance.

"If the American foreign policy establishment is a grand citadel, then Henry Kissinger is the ghoul haunting its hallways," the book's description read. "For half a century, he was an omnipresent figure in war rooms and at press briefings, dutifully shepherding the U.S. empire through military interventions and underhand foreign policy. For generations of antiwar activists, Kissinger personified the depravity of the American war machine."

Promotions for the book celebrated that Kissinger, "at long last," died.

Some journalists struck a similar tone.

"A reminder that Henry Kissinger is owed absolutely zero grace or kindness when he dies," left-leaning journalist Yashar Ali wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. "He is a war criminal with the blood of MILLIONS on his hands. A man responsible for destabilizing countries all over the world. He is an unrepentant monster."

Some elected officials were more reserved in their statements, condemning his legacy but refraining from celebrating his death.

"Henry Kissinger has passed at 100. His legacy badly needs reassessment," Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) said. "He unleashed some of the worst violence of the last fifty years in Chile, Cambodia, Iran & Vietnam — just to name a few. His indifference to human suffering will forever tarnish his name and shape his legacy."

"Henry Kissinger was a War Criminal who helped destroy the lives of millions — So sad that he was never held to account," an Irish member of the European Union's parliament said. "Now EU is giving its unconditional support to Israeli Regime who are committing endless War Crimes against the Palestinians — They must be held to account."

Socialist groups expressed jubilation over Kissinger's death, with the Portland Democratic Socialists of America announcing a party to celebrate it.

"It's (finally) time to party! Join us tonight 6pm at workers tap to toast the timely departure of one of the most bloodstained ghouls of the last hundred years," it wrote in a post on X. "We'll be doing a pass the hat to help fund socialist organizing that Kissinger would hate. Tip your servers!"

Videos posted on social media showed jubilant reactions from pro-Palestinian protesters in New York City when the news broke. The protest outside the Rockefeller Center tree-lighting ceremony was happening when news of Kissinger's death went public.

There were also responses from online figures. Former porn star and political commentator Mia Khalifa announced a sale on an adult website to celebrate Kissinger's death.

"HENRY KISSINGER IS DEAD!! To celebrate this beautiful 29th day of November use promo code: ByeB**** to get 29% off my OF this week," she wrote.

She courted controversy last month when she was fired from Playboy for openly celebrating Hamas's terrorist attack against Israel on Oct. 7 — including posting pictures of Hamas gunmen during the attack with favorable captions.

A viral pro-Palestinian activist commissioned a shirt celebrating Kissinger's death in advance, with the text "Hell is patient" displayed above a picture of the former diplomat.

More broadly, Kissinger's death drew a strong reaction on social media, with widely negative responses. His name was trending at the top of X hours after his death alongside Cambodia and Laos, with many posts being critical of his policy of saturation bombing the two nations during the Vietnam War in an attempt to cut the Ho Chi Minh trail.

"RIP BOZO," referring to a meme celebrating someone's death, reached the top 10 of trending. It ascended with "IT FINALLY HAPPENED." "War criminal" reached the top 25.

Favorable reception to Kissinger's death wasn't limited to the Left, however. Former Trump adviser Roger Stone met the news with praise and appeared on Alex Jones's show to condemn him.

"I hope Henry Kissinger has an asbestos jumpsuit," he said in a post on X.

Jose Ramos-Horta, the president of East Timor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, gave a more nuanced take in an interview with the Washington Post. Kissinger is widely held responsible for endorsing Indonesia's invasion of East Timor, which saw many crimes against humanity.

"Those who follow history, who follow international politics — they know about this past, which was tragic and ugly," he said, adding that he believed the U.S. officials involved in the East Timor policy are "embarrassed by what they did."

Despite this, he said, "We are free now. That's what is most important."
