Vice President Kamala Harris slammed former President Donald Trump and anti-abortion supporters on the second anniversary of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, the vice president blasted “extremists” who don’t believe in abortion with exceptions for rape or incest and said Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices to undo Roe while also stating that “Trump abortion bans” have taken effect in states.

Harris later called the “extremists” immoral for saying women have no say in what happens to their bodies next. Abortion bans that include no exceptions for rape or incest constitute under half of the states with restrictions.

“We are seeing what I call ‘Trump abortion bans,’ including states [with] a six-week abortion ban, which tells you that these legislators clearly don’t know how a woman’s body works, or they don’t care, in that most women don’t even know they’re pregnant at six weeks,” Harris said.

The vice president later seemingly appealed to religious voters on the fence about abortion, saying they wouldn’t have to abandon their beliefs to support less government oversight on abortion.

“You don’t have to abandon your faith or deeply held beliefs to agree that government should not be telling women what to do with their bodies,” Harris said. “If they choose, they will consult with their priest, their pastor, their rabbi, their imam, but not the government telling women what to do.”

Harris joined the program with abortion rights advocate Hadley Duvall, who was raped by her stepfather and became pregnant, later miscarrying.

Trump has said he would not sign a national abortion ban and argued it should be up to states to set their abortion policies.

His stance may go under further scrutiny when he faces President Joe Biden in Thursday’s CNN presidential debate.
