Vice President Kamala Harris interrupted her supporters’ chanting of her name by adding a chant that caused the crowd to grow silent at a rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Monday.

“Thank you! Thank you,” Harris said, smiling as the rallygoers repeatedly shouted her name.

The vice president then interrupted the flow of her supporters chanting by adding her own chant.

“Let’s get out the vote! Let’s get out the vote!” she began shouting.

The crowd went silent as Harris kept repeating the phrase.

Harris continued, “Let’s get out the vote! … Let‘s win! All right. Let‘s get to work!”

The Democratic presidential nominee began laughing during the awkward moment before the crowd applauded to show support.

Social media reacted with mockery.

“Kamala tries to get the audience to chant and it was an epic fail. This is so difficult to watch. The cringe is off the charts,” the Libs of TikTok account wrote on X, adding, “ZERO charisma. ZERO leadership abilities. ZERO social awareness.”

“Imagine this cringe for 4 years?” another person asked on X.

Harris attempted to change up her crowd’s chants at an Ann Arbor, Michigan, rally last week when she told them to start saying “their own names” instead of hers. The rally attendees responded with a momentarily confused silence.

The vice president spent Monday in Pennsylvania, starting in Scranton before heading to Allentown. Later in the day, she will hold rallies and concerts in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with special guests Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ricky Martin, and Oprah Winfrey.
