Vice President Kamala Harris is continuing to hide from the media to avoid her inevitable blunders, knowing full well that “journalists” will do all the work defending and promoting her.
The latest example of this comes from ABC News, on which Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) correctly noted that Harris wants to eliminate private health insurance. ABC’s Jonathan Karl then dutifully filled the network’s role as an unofficial Harris surrogate outlet by claiming that Harris has disavowed that when she has not. As she has with fracking, mandatory gun “buybacks,” and several other issues from the 2020 campaign, Harris has reversed course only through statements from her campaign to media outlets. She hasn’t spoken about any of this or had to answer questions about her reversals.
We even have a far more recent example. Harris was proposing price controls to bring down grocery prices, a disastrous plan that defies basic economics. But now, “people familiar” with Harris’s thinking have walked that back, anonymously, to the New York Times, instead saying the plan would be limited to emergencies and wouldn’t even bring grocery prices down. Harris “created the space for multiple interpretations, by declining to specify how that ban would work, when it would apply or what behaviors it would prohibit.”
In other words, the plan doesn’t even exist. Harris again made a ridiculous proposal and had her campaign team walk it back for her after backlash. She has refused to take questions on this or anything else because she would only dig a bigger hole for herself. She is running a sham campaign that doesn’t believe in anything but the focus group-approved positions of voters.

Even now, Harris is looking to avoid scrutiny in her first debate with former President Donald Trump. Harris wants microphones not to be muted when the other candidate is speaking so she can have a viral “I’m speaking” moment that her media allies fawn over while ignoring all her blunders and contradictory positions that would be put on display in a debate.
Harris does all this knowing “journalists” like Karl will take it upon themselves to defend, rationalize, and celebrate her policies and positions, or at least whatever they interpret them to be. She doesn’t have to answer for her past positions, whether they were from the 2020 election or from a couple of weeks ago, nor does she need to answer questions about anything from her time in the Biden administration. Harris knows liberal media are all in on her campaign, which is why she is trying to run out the clock before having to show the country just how incompetent she is in unscripted interactions.
