Washington Examiner Chief Political Correspondent Byron York said it is hard to see former Vice President Kamala Harris’s rationale in publishing her forthcoming book, after multiple revealing excerpts from 107 Days were released this week.

An excerpt released this week detailed Harris’ decision in selecting her running mate for her 2024 presidential campaign. Harris wrote that then-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was her first pick if she wasn’t a “black woman married to a Jewish man.”

York said most of the people Harris “took shots at” in the book are most of the 2028 democratic field for president.

“It’s very hard to see the rationale behind this book,” York said. “OK, that’s fine, she’s going after people who might run against her if she chose to run again in 2028.”

Harris announced in July that she would be publishing a book, 107 Days, about her 2024 presidential bid, providing an inside look into her three-and-a-half-month campaign to the White House after former President Joe Biden dropped out.

York said, similar to Harris’s staff, the “rest of the planet realized” she had made a huge mistake picking Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as her vice presidential candidate.

York agreed with statements made by Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA), who was under consideration to be her running-mate as well, said that Harris will need to answer questions about Biden’s competency during their administration.

“Joe Biden is really the biggest villain in this book,” York said. “She calls it 107 Days, the title of the book, because she claims she didn’t have enough time to run a winning campaign, and of course, the reason she didn’t have enough time is because Biden waited until the last minute to pull out.”

“It’s a book full of resentments [so] it’s hard to see how it helps her,” York added.
