The United States is experiencing not-so-happy days right now, as Henry Winkler believes the country is currently "at a very scary moment."

Winkler's comment was in regards to the recent arrest of former President Donald Trump, whose mug shot was released to the public on Thursday evening. Winkler, who has criticized Trump in the past, was asked what he thought of the recent arrest of the former president.

"This country is at a very scary moment," he said. "How can we so dislike each other just for having a point of view? That is insane ... I mean, if you looked insanity up, that would be the definition."

Trump surrendered to authorities on Thursday for his indictment in Georgia, which involves Trump's attempts to try and overturn the 2020 presidential election results. In response to the arrest, Winkler stated that "nobody is above the law."

On Thursday evening, ahead of Trump's mug shot release, Winkler joked on social media on how Trump would be able to raise money for his campaign. In the wake of the mug shot's release, however, Trump has used the photo to sell merchandise, including T-shirts, coffee mugs, and signed posters.

Since Thursday night, Trump has managed to raise over $7 million, making up over a third of the $20 million his campaign has raised in the last three weeks.

Jen Psaki, a former White House press secretary for President Joe Biden, has joked that Trump is wearing the mug shot "like a badge of honor."

Trump will be arraigned at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 for his Fulton County, Georgia, indictment. He will then be followed by the other 18 defendants in 15-minute increments, including Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, and Sidney Powell.
