NextImg:Hamas will only release bodies of four hostages

Hamas is only expected to release the bodies of four killed Israeli hostages on Monday, a small fraction of the more than two dozen bodies the group agreed to release.

The terrorist group released all 20 living hostages on Monday, but only four of the 28 deceased hostages, according to the Hostage Family Forum, despite the ceasefire deal calling on Hamas to release all 48 living and deceased hostages within three days of the commencement of the agreement.

“The hostage families were shocked and dismayed to learn that only four deceased hostages will be returned today, out of 28 held by Hamas,” the forum said. “This represents a blatant breach of the agreement by Hamas. We expect Israel’s government and the mediators to take immediate action to rectify this grave injustice.”

The 20 living hostages were reunited with their families and given initial medical attention ahead of more comprehensive care.

TRUMP CELEBRATES ‘GOLDEN AGE’ OF ISRAEL AND MIDDLE EAST

President Donald Trump, the lead proponent of the deal that ultimately ended the war, met with many of the hostage families and also addressed Israel’s Knesset on Monday.

Ronen Neutra, the father of deceased U.S.-Israeli citizen Omer Neutra, whose body is still being held by Hamas, “reminded [President Trump] that it’s not over until the 28 deceased hostages,” according to the New York Post.

“It’s a continual horror for the families,” Neutra said. “The 28 families like us sit on the Knesset benches listening to the glorious speeches, and we don’t know when we’re going to get our son.”

“Will it be today, in two hours, in one week, or never? And it’s very difficult to be in that position,” he continued. “And it’s not over. There are 28 families in agony, and that’s our problem. And we’re just hoping that it’s not going to be a celebration of victory until the last hostage is back.”

There was speculation, furthered by comments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that not all of the bodies would be handed over in the agreed-upon time frame. Netanyahu also suggested Israel would have to find the bodies, and that Hamas may not be able to locate them.

ALL LIVING ISRAELI HOSTAGES FREED FROM HAMAS CAPTIVITY

“We will bring the deceased hostages to burial in Israel,” Netanyahu said late last week. “We will work to locate all of them as soon as possible, and we will fulfill this as a sacred duty of mutual responsibility.”

It’s unclear whether Hamas intends to release additional bodies in the coming days and how that could affect the deal, if at all.
