An Israeli hostage taken by Hamas was seen fighting back against her captors in a video taken during the group's initial attack on Oct. 7.
Amit Soussana, 40, was caught on a Gaza City security camera fighting against seven of her captors, even causing one to fall over after he lifted her on his back. The footage was first posted on Israel's Chanel 12 News with her permission.

Soussana was in the final group of hostages released on Nov. 30 as part of a deal that allowed for a ceasefire as groups of 10 hostages were released per day. After Nov. 30, the deal broke down, and fighting resumed.
Almost 100 hostages were released throughout the ceasefire. Israel said Friday that it believes 136 people are still being held hostage. Most of the foreign hostages were released, but 11 remain.
The United States suggested on Monday that Hamas had scuttled the ceasefire negotiations to cover up the alleged rape of women hostages.

“The humanitarian pause, which resulted in a release of hostages, was negotiated with some very clear terms, and that was that children and women would be the first priority to be released,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said. “They broke the deal, came up with excuses why. Ultimately, I don't think any of those excuses were credible, and I shouldn't get into any of them here. But certainly one of the reasons that a number of people believe they refuse to release them is they didn't want people to hear what those women would have to say publicly.”
The area of contention that derailed negotiations was when Hamas demanded to release a group of elderly men, while Israel demanded a group of women.
