Presidential candidate Nikki Haley slammed both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in response to an expected meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin later this month.

According to Haley, who served in the Trump administration as U.N. ambassador, both Biden's "weakness" and Trump's "friendliness" have failed to contain North Korea's ambitions.

On Monday, it was reported that Kim Jong Un has plans to meet with Putin at some point this month. The two are expected to discuss a possible deal for munitions as Russia continues its war with Ukraine.

“The Kim-Putin partnership is another sign that the dictators of the world are united,” Haley said in a statement Tuesday. “The tyrants who lead China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea hate America and our values. We must take their threats seriously. Neither Joe Biden’s weakness nor Donald Trump’s friendliness to Kim have changed North Korea’s direction for the better. These dictators only understand strength.”

The White House did not provide a statement to the Washington Examiner, but Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung defended the former president's record, saying, "Under President Trump's successful presidency, no new wars were started because everyone respected the power and leadership of America. Sadly, Joe Biden and many others want to further bloodshed and deaths."

American and allied officials said the meeting would involve Kim traveling from Pyongyang, North Korea, to Vladivostok, on Russia's coast, to meet Putin, according to the New York Times.

This comes as Biden requests an additional $40 billion in spending from Congress, $24 billion of which would be for Ukraine aid. Politicians in both parties have become increasingly skeptical of continued U.S. aid to Ukraine, and a prominent conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, has called for an end to the aid altogether until the White House provides "a direct and immediate path to end the conflict in Ukraine and Congress comes up with a way to ensure that our aid is responsibly distributed."

Haley, a hawk on national security matters, has said she supports continued military aid to Ukraine.
