Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) stated on Wednesday that "no one is concerned" in the Republican conference about the impending deadline that Congress and President Joe Biden face regarding the debt ceiling.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen predicts Congress has until June 1 before the government runs out of the cash needed to meet its obligations.

MAKE OR BREAK: THIS WEEK INTO NEXT IS CRITICAL WINDOW FOR DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS

However, the Georgia congresswoman did not express the same level of concern. She said Republicans in Congress are "cool as a cucumber" ahead of the deadline, according to an appearance she made on Steve Bannon's War Room podcast.

"We're cool as a cucumber because we aren't concerned over it. ... We did our job, we passed a bill that cut $4.8 trillion in spending to raise Joe Biden's debt ceiling, and he's the one that can't come to the table and get it done."

In April, Congress voted 217-215 to pass the Limit, Save, Grow Act, which House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) asked Democrats to pass in the Senate so the United States can avoid defaulting on its debt. The bill would increase the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion or until March 24, 2024, whichever comes first, in exchange for multiple spending cuts, including caps on expenditures mirroring fiscal 2022 levels with a 1% annual increase over the next decade.

“The only people worked up about the mystery date is probably the New York Stock Exchange,” Greene said. “I mean, let’s be real about exactly what it is. Regular Americans living their lives, day in and day out, don’t worry about the government shutting down.”

Yellen is set to appear before the House Financial Committee on June 7 to testify about how she calculated the so-called X-date on which the country could default on its debts, a source confirmed to the Washington Examiner. The meeting, taking place a little less than a week after the June 1 deadline, comes after several House Republicans have questioned whether Yellen's timeline is legitimate or just an attempt from the Biden administration to accelerate a deal.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) sent a memo to House Republicans on Wednesday outlining a number of the GOP’s top priorities in the debt ceiling fight, offering messaging tactics he said would help the party maintain a “unified” front as talks continue. The memo listed seven reforms that House Republicans say must be included in the final debt limit legislation and should not be compromised on just to reach a deal with Biden.

“While House Republicans are fighting for hard-working American families facing a woke, weaponized government at odds with our way of life, President Biden and Democrats have been dragging their feet for weeks to fight for rich liberal elitists who want more spending, more government, more corporate subsidies, and less freedom,” the memo read. “The following reforms were part of the Limit, Save, Grow Act — each are critical and none should be abandoned solely for the quest of a ‘deal.’”
